Project Financial Analyst Department: Operations Employment Type: Full Time Location: Houston, TX Compensation: $70,000 - $75,000 / year Description Alta Planning + Design is seeking a full-time Project Financial Analyst in our Houston, TX office, to support project managers. This role is responsible for supporting office team members to manage and complete projects and contribute to Alta's financial success. Day to Day In this role, a Project Financial Analyst will ensure costs and revenues are accurately reported for all projects for month end, accounting and project related reporting. You will be collaborating with Project Managers to maintain budgets, approving subcontractor invoices, and consolidate invoicing packets. As Project Financial Analyst you will be responsible for maintaining project folders, focusing on the accuracy and completeness of the necessary project documentation. Invoice Management: Prepare and review client invoices and supporting documentation monthly or as requested. Ensure timely, accurate billing and resolve invoicing discrepancies. Project Financial Management: Support project budgeting and financial reporting. Monitor costs, identify budget variances and financial risks, and work with Project Managers to address concerns. Project Data and Documentation: Maintain accurate, complete, and current project information, billing data, and financial records. Regularly review and reconcile data to support reliable reporting and effective budget management. Accounts Receivable Support: Monitor outstanding invoices, assist with collections, and coordinate with Project Managers and the finance team to resolve payment issues. Collaboration and Project Support: Work closely with Project Managers, Operations, and the finance team to support project financial performance. Attend project meetings, provide timely reports, and help staff understand and follow invoicing procedures. Compliance: Ensure project financial activities and documentation comply with company policies, established procedures, and applicable regulations. Team Support and Process Improvement: Participate in finance and operations meetings, recommend workflow improvements, and provide backup support to ensure accounting tasks are completed accurately and on time. Qualifications Required This position requires a combination of skills, experience and education including, but not limited to 3-5 years of work experience required in project accounting or a similar role Experience in a deadline-driven, project-based environment Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Strong initiative, ability to manage competing priorities and multiple, simultaneous tasks Ability to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team Attention to detail and strong organizational skills There are a number of additional skills, experience, and education that would be beneficial to this position including, but not limited to: Experience in engineering, construction, or architecture Experience with Deltek or VantagePoint Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field What We Offer Flexible Schedule Alta offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule where most employees work from home three days per week. This range reflects the company’s good faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
