Description

Our client, the U.S.'s largest commercial real estate services firm, has an exciting opportunity for a GL Accountant supporting a commercial real estate portfolio in Los Angeles, CA. This 3-month contract opportunity, with potential for extension and conversion, is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with a strong understanding of general ledger accounting, month-end close activities, and financial reporting. You'll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial records while supporting daily accounting operations in a fast-paced environment. Schedule is Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.

Responsibilities

Perform day-to-day general ledger accounting activities and maintain accurate financial records.
Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and budgets.
Manage straight-line depreciation calculations and related accounting entries.
Complete month-end close activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
Review profit and loss statements and reconcile financial data for accuracy.
Post journal entries to the general ledger and analyze budget variances.
Prepare and review variance reports to identify trends and forecast business changes.
Track accounts receivable activity and ensure payments are accurately recorded.
Verify account balances and maintain the accuracy of financial records.
Ensure the general ledger, tax records, and financial data remain current and compliant.
Work within established accounting procedures to meet reporting deadlines and business objectives.

Must Have Skills

3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably within commercial real estate.
Strong general ledger accounting and month-end close experience.
Experience preparing financial statements and reconciliations.
Knowledge of depreciation accounting and financial reporting.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to review and explain financial variances.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Basic computer proficiency.

Nice to Have Skills

Experience using MRI accounting software.
Experience with commercial real estate accounting.
Budgeting and forecasting experience.
Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
