Restaurant General Manager

Position Overview

• Role: General Manager (GM)

• Location: New York, NY

• Vibe: Cult-favorite, cultural, and culinary-driven.

We seek a General Manager to work closely with Chef Eddie Huang to hire, train staff, maintain brand standards and operating procedures in an effort to deliver high-energy hospitality, drive profitability, and lead a tight-knit front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations & Guest Experience

• Manage Daily Flow: Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring quality of service, food safety, and immaculate cleanliness during peak rushes.

• Brand Culture: Embody the unique cultural, artistic, and community-driven ethos of the brand.

• Quality Control: Partner with kitchen management to ensure recipes (like signature baos and smoked brisket) meet exact specifications.

• Guest Relations: Handle customer feedback with grace and turn first-time visitors into loyal regulars.

2. Leadership & Team Development

• Hire and Train: Recruit, onboard, and train energetic FOH and support staff.

• Mentor: Lead by example on the floor, fostering a respectful, inclusive, and high-morale workplace.

• Scheduling: Build efficient labor schedules that balance strict labor-cost targets with staff well-being and peak-hour coverage.

3. Financial Management & Administration

• P&L Ownership: Manage food costs, labor percentages, and operating expenses to hit budgetary goals.

• Inventory: Oversee weekly/monthly inventory counts for beverage, paper goods, cleaning supplies, and tools in front of house.

• Compliance: Ensure adherence to NYC Department of Health codes, labor laws, and safety regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: 3 to 5+ years of restaurant management experience (General Manager or Assistant GM) in high-volume, fast-casual, or fast-paced casual dining—ideally within the NYC market.

• Skills: Strong financial acumen (P&L, labor systems, inventory control) and fluency with modern POS systems (e.g., Toast, Square).

• Presence: A hands-on, high-energy leader who leads by example and maintains standards with a talent for developing and utilizing systems.

• Passion: Deep appreciation for independent NYC food culture, art, music, and community engagement.
