HR Consultant

Job Overview The Human Resources Consultant supports the Facilities Management department (Operations, Maintenance, Planning, Construction and Design) by providing leadership and management for all human resources personnel matters. The position is responsible for maintaining confidentiality, communicating policies, and serving as an extension of the Office of Human Resources. The role is exempt professional staff and is full-time (1.0 FTE). Primary Purpose of Position This position provides overall HR leadership within Facilities Management, supporting recruitment, performance management, professional development, and disciplinary processes for campus operations. Responsibilities Manage training and professional development initiatives. Full-cycle recruitment of staff. Performance management and performance reviews. Disciplinary processes and personnel issues. Maintain strict confidentiality of personnel information. Communicate policies, procedures, and guidelines to leaders and staff. Collaborate with the Office of Human Resources on all personnel matters. Serve as mandatory personnel during certain emergency events. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of progressively responsible HR experience or equivalent combination of training and experience. Substantial HR knowledge and experience in a large, complex organization. Working knowledge of all HR processes, including recruitment, classification, compensation, policy administration, organizational development, culture, and HRIS. Experience using online employment systems, Adobe, Banner HR, and Office 365 products. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. 2–5 years of HR experience at a university or State of North Carolina agency.
