Key Responsibilities The Cargo Sales Account Executive is responsible for outside sales, account management and development to drive revenue growth and ensure customer satisfaction. He/she introduces cargo product into the market, maintains sales and a high standard of service to customers, and stays current on the competitive landscape to ensure a leadership role for United Cargo in the industry. Develop customer relationships into long‑term business relationships. Proactively solicit cargo business from existing and prospective accounts to achieve and exceed revenue goals. Make frequent in‑person sales calls and follow the Diamond model (relationship at different levels and with different departments). Responsible for mid‑term, long‑term and export selling, consignee sales and import sales. Create and maintain account profiles in United systems. Create awareness of all UA products and services in the area to magnify market influence and generate future sales. Build and maintain all‑around industry knowledge including freight forwarding, airlines and commercial sector. Stay current on competitive landscape, study market conditions to pinpoint new breaks, prospects and/or possible threats. Provide total and efficient service to accounts. Take ownership of account management and relationship management for assigned portfolio. Maintain a creative business‑development approach ensuring balanced advocacy for business and customer needs. Enhance cargo revenues by developing account business plans and forecasting. Facilitate Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR) as appropriate. Handle rate negotiations and implementation including ad‑hoc capability. Actively manage customer allotments, support network optimization tools and processes, and partner with Freight Accounting for rate/billing oversight. Manage a diverse range of customers who pose a high volume of needs/demands with diplomacy. Maintain an enthusiastic, solution‑oriented outlook. Take a proactive approach to problem solving, working closely with customers and/or colleagues to offer solutions, recommend changes or modifications. Be computer literate, ensuring accurate and compliant record‑keeping in designated systems (e.g., utilize Salesforce.com for documentation and to uncover sales opportunities). Promote emerging technology such as eUsage. Note: This role will be required to travel up to 50% of the time. Qualifications What's Needed to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant work experience 2+ years of sales experience with direct customer contact or cargo customer service/sales experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills Communicates accurate information and ideas via a wide range of media and mediums to various audiences Knowledge of the competitive landscape Required to travel up to 50% of the time Must possess a valid, active driver’s license and have access to a reliable personal vehicle to travel to customer meetings throughout the region Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship Must be able to obtain a SIDA badge issued by the Airport Authority and a US Customs Seal issued by US Customs and Border Protection Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position What Will Help You Propel From the Pack (Preferred Qualifications) United Airlines is an equal opportunity employer.
