This contract opportunity supports K-12 students in a dynamic educational setting, assisting in a variety of classrooms across multiple schools in North Kansas City, Missouri. Paraprofessional experience is valuable for this role, which involves working with students in both special education and general support capacities. Candidates should be comfortable providing toileting assistance, managing challenging behaviors, and collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet students’ unique needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Substitute Certificate listed on the DESE website or ParaPro Exam with transcripts on file (required before interviews can be scheduled)
- Experience working in schools, especially with special education populations and behavioral support
- Willingness and readiness to float between multiple campus sites as needed throughout the school year
- Ability to support students 1:1 or in group classroom settings, in environments ranging from elementary to high school
- Flexibility with caseload and location assignments, adapting to evolving student needs
Responsibilities:
- Assist students in K-12 SPED and general education classrooms, providing academic, emotional, and behavioral support
- Follow behavior intervention plans and instructional strategies developed by educators and therapists
- Help with toileting/changing and actively support students with various disabilities
- Foster an inclusive, dignified environment for learning and growth
- Work closely with teachers, aides, and related support staff
- Rotating schedules: Elementary (8:30–4:00 or 9:00–4:30), Middle (7:00–2:30), High (7:30–3:00)
This role runs from late August through late May, with placements at one or more district schools, depending on district needs. Candidates must be available for a brief prescreen with the account manager prior to a formal interview.
