Today, more than 250 Smart City team members support venues and events nationwide.About the RoleAs a Network Administrator, you will install, modify, monitor, and support provider networks for national event venues. You will configure core networking to deliver secure, compartmentalized networks and services for customers while supporting onsite teams through technical issues and escalations.This is a hands-on Tier 2 technical role focused on reliable connectivity, rapid troubleshooting, network documentation, and the uptime of centralized systems and essential services.What You'll DoServe as the Tier 2 technical point of escalation for field operations staff; take ownership of support tickets, investigate evidence, research solutions, and coordinate with Tier 1 and Tier 3 teams.Install, configure, troubleshoot, and monitor Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks using routers and switches to meet client requirements and company standards.Use network discovery and show commands - including CDP/LLDP, MAC address tables, ARP tables, and Spanning Tree - to map topology and trace connectivity paths.Proactively monitor networks, open investigation tickets, research best practices, and document changes and technical reasoning.Work with upstream providers to provision Internet circuits for redundant BGP routing, filter routes, perform traffic engineering, and drive circuit or routing tickets through resolution.Configure and troubleshoot specialty hotspot gateways and high-density wireless networks supporting thousands of users, including the DHCP, DNS, and NAT services required for client Internet access.Plan and complete network and infrastructure maintenance during outage windows, coordinating with stakeholders to protect essential services and minimize downtime.Occasionally travel offsite to provide advanced technical support, rapid diagnostics, troubleshooting, and daily monitoring reports for client events in other Smart City facilities.What You BringHigh school diploma or equivalent2-3 years of experience as a Network Administrator with a LAN/WAN focus, or equivalent experience.Working knowledge of Layer 1-3 networking, including Layer 2 configuration, Layer 3 interfaces, routing, switching, topology mapping, and connectivity troubleshooting.Experience with BGP, route filtering, traffic engineering, and upstream providers in support of reliable, redundant Internet connectivity.Familiarity with DHCP, DNS, and NAT and their role in providing client Internet access.Strong ownership and investigative skills with the ability to ask pertinent questions, evaluate evidence, research solutions, and document decisions.Industry-specific certifications such as CCNA, CWNA, MTA, MCSA, or comparable Cisco, Microsoft, or networking credentials.Ability to work with minimal supervision, collaborate across support tiers, and remain effective while troubleshooting time-sensitive client issues.Preferred QualificationsThe following experience is a plus:Scripting, programming, or an interest in network automationExperience with VoIP systems, including Asterisk-based PBXs and Polycom phones.A Few More Things to KnowThis role is based in Anaheim.The position participates in a weekly on-call rotation and requires 24/7 availability by cell phone while on call.Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.Why Smart City?At Smart City Networks, you'll work on the systems that keep high-profile events and venues connected.
