Brighten City Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled full-time Orthopedic Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic surgical team at our Outpatient Orthopedic Clinic located in Brownsville, Texas. Work Environment

The Surgical Center at Brighten City Hospital operates in a state-of-the-art facility that promotes effective collaboration among staff members. Our onsite work setting allows for seamless coordination and communication, ensuring that our clinical teams deliver cohesive and comprehensive care to our patients. The typical work schedule for this role is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, providing a balanced work-life commitment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional care for a high-volume arthroplasty patient population in an outpatient clinic setting, performing comprehensive histories and physical examinations for new and established patients, including pre-operative and post-operative assessments.

• Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests to develop appropriate care plans based on clinical findings.

• Coordinate patient care throughout their entire surgical journey, from pre-operative preparation and surgical assistance in the operating room to post-operative recovery and rehabilitation monitoring.

• Consult with supervising orthopedic surgeons regarding complex cases that may extend beyond the PA’s scope, thus ensuring comprehensive care and proper patient management.

• Prescribe medications and controlled substances within regulatory frameworks while also optimizing patients’ conditions in preparation for surgery.

• Efficiently manage patient communications, including phone calls, messages via Patient Gateway, and email inquiries, ensuring timely responses and the completion of required outpatient clinical documentation.

• Participate actively in clinical meetings, presenting cases during weekly conferences and consulting with multidisciplinary teams on patient care strategies.

• Identify candidates for institutional research studies and assist with obtaining informed consent post-training completion as required.

• Engage patients and their families by providing educational support regarding treatment plans and rehabilitation processes.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The PA in this position will primarily focus on patients undergoing orthopedic surgeries, particularly arthroplasty, which includes total joint replacements. This high-volume clinic aims to enhance patients’ mobility and quality of life through surgery, and the PA will play a crucial role in promoting positive outcomes by actively engaging with patients and their families throughout their recovery process.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Physician Assistant with a Master’s degree from an accredited program and a certificate of registration from the Board of Registration of Physician Assistants.

• DEA Registration and State Controlled Substance Registration are required.

• Current CPR (BLS) certification is essential for patient care.

• A minimum of two years of experience specifically within orthopedic surgery is preferred to ensure familiarity with the fast-paced surgical environment.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience working with arthroplasty patients and familiarity with common orthopedic procedures.

• Experience in a surgical setting and thorough understanding of pre- and post-operative protocols.

• Strong interpersonal skills for effective patient communication and team collaboration within a medical environment.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of USD 140,000 to 180,000 annually, commensurate with experience, alongside a comprehensive benefits package. Our benefits include:
