Job Overview

Our organization is in search of a Family Medicine Residency Faculty Physician specializing in Obstetrics for our primary location in Florence, South Carolina. The medical center here facilitates over two thousand deliveries each year and boasts a robust and supportive OB-GYN department. This faculty role involves overseeing residents to ensure compliance with all ACGME/ABFM Women's Health competency standards. With a rich 25-year history in non-operative obstetrics, the Family Medicine Residency program is well-established. The Florence program comprises twenty-seven residents and is supported by a team of nine clinicians, a clinical pharmacist, a clinical psychologist, and a dental faculty member. Our recently renovated Family Medicine Center spans 37,000 square feet and is fully equipped with simulation models and ultrasound technology.

Our esteemed Family Medicine Residency Program provides community-oriented training within a 517-bed level 2 trauma center that includes a large Children's Hospital. This facility serves over 56,000 children annually and features 100 dedicated beds for Neonatal Intensive Care and Pediatric Intensive Care patients. The medical center in Florence serves as the cornerstone of our system, offering a wide range of specialized services, including Heart and Vascular, Cancer, Surgery, Orthopedics, Women's and Children's health, among others.

Position Details and Requirements:

Our adaptable program structure allows for the exploration of a wide range of special interests, including evidence-based medicine, quality improvement, care for underserved populations, hospital medicine, critical care, procedures, geriatrics, obstetrics, women's health, pediatrics, international missions, and physician leadership. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about teaching comprehensive family medicine. Our program has a stellar reputation built over 40 years.

1. Faculty Physician interested in providing full-spectrum care, including prenatal services.

2. Experience in prenatal care is essential. Inpatient or OB deliveries are required.

3. Acts as a liaison among the obstetrics, pediatrics, and family medicine departments.

4. Oversees bi-weekly OB clinic sessions within the Family Medicine Practice.

5. Supervises residents in labor and delivery, newborn nursery, and postpartum care.
