Critical Care Tech - Critical Care Unit - Full Time 12 hours Nights (7:00PM to 7:30AM) (Union, Non-Exempt) Position Summary Under the supervision of the RN, the Critical Care Room Technician assists the RN in patient care procedures and activities. Checks equipment, maintains supply levels, maintains and organizes utility rooms, and assures the availability of emergency equipment, supplies, trays, and carts, restocking them as needed. Transports patients for procedures, transfers, or discharge. Performs 12‑Lead EKG in a timely and effective manner when required. Sets up rooms for admissions and removes and cleans soiled equipment after patient discharge or transfer. Performs unit secretary/monitor technician role. Demonstrates and promotes compliance with infection control, legal, and safety standards. Demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the unit and the organization. Applies strong verbal and non‑verbal skills to achieve service goals of customer satisfaction and a positive work environment. Responsibilities Accountable to the Charge RN for daily work assignment and to the Nursing Manager/Director for overall performance. Assist RN in turning, positioning, ambulating patients; prepare patients for examination; set up equipment and trays for emergency procedures. Ensure compliance with Central Line Necessity stamp to meet infection control standards. Assume responsibility for professional development and practice. Interpret cardiac rhythms, review and validate alarms, and communicate significant rhythm changes to the RN. Use the patient charge system daily: stamp charge cards and ensure all emergency trays, carts, and supplies are charged. Promote unity and teamwork, maintain a positive attitude, and foster positive working relationships. Coordinate patient room assignment with the Lead/charge RN and maintain an up‑to‑date logbook. Organize, monitor, and maintain supplies, oxygen tanks, and emergency equipment. Keep accurate inventory of essential equipment and instruments; keep utility rooms and hallways organized and free from clutter; send broken equipment for repair. Perform 12‑Lead EKG competently and timely, accurately place leads, send tracing to Cardio‑Diagnostics, and document in patient chart. Respond to Code Blue and perform CPR as needed. Participate in the organization‑wide Performance Improvement Program: orientation, education, and quality activities. Stock, organize, and set‑up patient rooms, obtaining appropriate equipment for admissions. Transport patients for admission, procedure, and discharge by gurney or wheelchair; transport medications (except narcotics, lab specimens, blood products) as requested. Under RN supervision, transcribe physician orders accurately and promptly. Enter orders into the computer system, print, and file reports as required. Always assure patient privacy. Qualifications Minimum education: High School or GED. Preferred experience: Minimum one‑year recent experience in an acute care hospital. Required certifications: Basic Arrhythmia Certification; BLS certification (maintained and updated). Pay Transparency The hourly rate range for this position is $21.00 - $25.95.
