Patient Services Specialist

Major/Essential Functions Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, and relay messages to the appropriate nurse. Accurately enter and update patient demographics to ensure clean insurance claim submissions. Respond quickly to patient and insurance company inquiries, including prior authorizations and referr. Verify insurance coverage and obtain required authorizations before scheduling appointments. Make outgoing calls to patients for appointment reminders, rescheduling, and general clinic communication? Document all communications in EMR. Handle daily cash transactions, including accepting payments and performing end‑of‑day cash counts. Attend and actively participate in monthly departmental meetings. Maintain current knowledge of department and HSC policies and procedures to ensure compliance. Required Qualifications A High School diploma or GED. 1-year Customer Service, office, or related experience. Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement. Preferred Qualifications Medical clinic experience scheduling appointments, receiving patients, verifying insurance and processing charges Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Cerner experience Bilingual English/Spanish Pay Statement Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
