Service Manager - Electrical Solutions

As a Service Manager at United Rentals, you will lead a major maintenance enterprise within the Electrical Solutions Division, hiring and motivating a team of Service Technicians and Equipment Associates. You will maintain and repair a variety of specialty rental equipment and support assets to ensure safe operation and readiness for rental. You will work closely with the Branch Manager and help build a profitable location with your leadership, service and maintenance knowledge, and business management. What you’ll do: Supervise the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a variety of equipment, including but not limited to Electrical Distribution, Load Banks, Transformers, and Medium Voltage Equipment Motivate, coach and train technicians to exceed time & quality standards and comply with standard repair and maintenance processes Supervise Service Technicians, ensuring safety policies and procedures are followed at all times Build strong customer relationships through the delivery of high quality and timely customer service Apply United Rentals policies to maximize productivity while maintaining a safe work environment in a clean, organized facility Manage the shop operating expenses Lead, plan, measure and continuously improve all service and maintenance performance metrics Meet on a regular basis with Branch Managers, reporting any problems and discussing possible solutions Perform other duties as assigned Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent 3-5 years of operations and shop management experience with a background in repairing and maintaining the equipment Intermediate to advanced diagnostic and repair skills for mechanical and electrical systems Advanced knowledge of parts and consumable inventory management as well as vendor management Experience with electrical systems that allows for independent assessment and diagnosis in most situations Ability to read and interpret one‑line drawings Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record Motivational and leadership skills with excellent customer service skills Strong knowledge of maintenance accounting and P&L Basic computer skills (Excel) This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
