Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced phlebotomist to join our team in a float position, covering various Patient Service Centers (PSCs) in Queens and Manhattan. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of recent phlebotomy experience and be proficient with straight needles. This role requires reliable transportation and the ability to commute comfortably to Manhattan.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and carry out decontamination tasks.
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures to patients.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight and/or butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and ensure correct labeling.
• Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.
• Follow specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency in specimen collection, centrifuging, and using straight needles.
• Strong communication skills and customer service abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Spanish-speaking preferred but not required.

Work Environment

This float position requires traveling to various PSCs in Queens and Manhattan, including locations such as East 90th & 18th Street in Manhattan, Astoria, Jackson Heights, Arverne, and Far Rockaway. The work schedule includes Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, Wednesday from 8 am to 7 pm, and rotating Saturdays as needed. The role includes reimbursement for mileage (over 30 miles daily), tolls, and parking, with travel time between sites compensated.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Astoria, NY.

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Astoria,NY.
