Paramedic - North Shore, Merrimack, Newburyport (Part Time)

The role of a paramedic is to provide safe and efficient response, treatment, and transportation of all persons requesting or requiring emergent or non-emergent medical services. In addition to providing treatment onsite or during ambulance transportation in trauma, cardiac, or respiratory emergencies, medics also perform complex prehospital care including inserting IV lines, administering medications, and monitoring electrocardiograms (EKGs). Key Responsibilities Deliver quality patient care in accordance with clinical policies, statewide protocol, and standards of care Attend to patients in a courteous and professional manner Operate the ambulance in accordance with safety rules and regulations; company policies; federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and statutes. Complete an ambulance and medical equipment checklist at the beginning of each assigned shift. Inspect and clean the assigned ambulance and all medical equipment to ensure compliance with minimum stock requirements and proper function. Complete and submit all documentation/paperwork PCR requirements daily. Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external individuals, including agencies, physicians, and other healthcare providers at all times. Be knowledgeable of and comply with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines. Perform daily housekeeping duties at assigned bases of operation Maintains knowledge of and complies with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines at all times. Must maintain a reliable attendance and reports as scheduled and required Completes other duties as requested and assigned Education High school diploma or GED equivalent. Associate degree or higher preferred Licensure, Certification, Registration Current Massachusetts Paramedic Certification National Registry Paramedic Certification Current CPR and ACLS Certification Experience Minimum of 1-3 years of prior working EMT B or A experience required Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions. Strong Organizational Skills Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in various situations and settings. Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion while working in a stressful environment Ability to identify and provide practical solutions to solve problems and conflicts. Requirements Must be 18 years of age or older Ability to meet the essential duties and physical, mental and sensory requirements of the position at all times. Comply with UDS drug screening at any and all times Satisfactory background check and MA CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information), verification required annually. Verification of an acceptable motor vehicle driving record, verification required annually. Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met and maintained by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The position requires significant physical strength, dexterity and the ability to function in very adverse environments. Ability to lift and maneuver 125+ pounds with assistance and without difficulty Ability to ascend/descend stairs repeatedly and the ability to lift and carry 125+ pounds up and down stairs Ability to frequently use fingers, hands and arms to reach, handle and/or operate equipment, objects, tools or controls Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time Ability to walk without difficulty and without affecting the immediate performance of job-related duties. Ability to bend, stoop and crawl as necessary Ability to occasionally work in low light and confined spaces Ability to work within a mobile environment. This job requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid and dry conditions.
