About the Role
A Japanese company is hiring full-time Pastry Chefs to join the opening team of a new café and bakery in Brooklyn.
You will create signature pastries, cakes, and baked goods-from recipe development and production to final presentation -helping shape the visual identity and quality of the brand.
The concept draws inspiration from Japanese food culture, fermentation, and health-conscious ingredients . Interest in Japanese food or culture is a plus, but Japanese language skills are not required. Responsibilities

- Develop and standardize recipes for pastries, cakes, and baked goods
- Prepare creams, mousses, ganache, and other pastry components
- Manage temperature and humidity for chocolate tempering, refrigeration, freezing, and fermentation
- Finish and decorate products using classic and modern pastry techniques
- Support seasonal and limited-edition menu development
- Maintain consistent standards for appearance, flavor, and freshness
- Assist with food cost control and waste reduction
- Follow sanitation, food safety, and allergen procedures
- 2-3+ years of professional pastry experience preferred
- Strong skills in recipe development, temperature control, and plating
- Experience with French pastry techniques is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and visual presentation
- Creative, curious, and able to translate a concept into high-quality products
- Ability to work early-morning and/or afternoon shifts, including weekends
