Chief Executive Officer

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the senior executive leader of Rhode Island Medical Imaging (RIMI), a physician-owned and physician-led organization. The CEO is responsible for the organization’s core business operations and overall strategic, operational, and financial performance.

The CEO works collaboratively with physician leadership, the executive leadership team, and business partners to advance the organization’s strategic objectives. The CEO provides leadership across RIMI’s core business functions, principally the office practice, while maintaining an organization-wide perspective on financial health, stability, and long-term sustainability, including hospital contracts and non-clinical revenue sources.

The CEO is responsible for driving operational excellence, sustainable growth, market expansion, and exceptional patient experience while ensuring the organization maintains the highest standards of quality, compliance, and service. The CEO serves as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors and provides ongoing leadership in strategic planning, business development, financial stewardship, and organizational performance.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and execute the organization’s long-term strategic plan to support growth, profitability, and market leadership.
• Lead and oversee the organization’s core operational, financial, and administrative functions.
• Strengthen and expand partnerships with affiliated hospitals, health systems, referring providers, payers, and community stakeholders.
• Identify and evaluate opportunities for business development, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
• Provide leadership and direction to the executive leadership team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and service excellence.
• Oversee annual operating and capital budgeting processes and ensure achievement of financial objectives, including profitability, cash flow, and long-term financial stability.
• Monitor organizational performance through key performance indicators and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, patient access, and resource utilization.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, accreditation, privacy, and regulatory requirements governing healthcare and diagnostic imaging operations.
• Promote quality improvement initiatives designed to enhance patient safety, patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes, and operational effectiveness.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with vendors, service providers, consultants, and strategic partners.
• Review and evaluate capital investments, technology initiatives, and facility expansion opportunities to support the organization’s long‑term growth strategy.
• Provide regular reports and recommendations to the Board of Directors regarding organizational performance, strategic initiatives, financial results, and market opportunities.
• Oversee revenue cycle optimization and reimbursement strategies to maximize organizational performance.
• Lead organizational change management initiatives and ensure successful implementation of strategic priorities.
• Represent the organization externally with healthcare leaders, physician groups, hospital executives, industry associations, regulatory agencies, and business partners.
• Drive employee engagement, leadership development, succession planning, and workforce retention initiatives across the organization.
• Ensure the organization maintains adequate insurance coverage and appropriate risk management practices.

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 10 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience required.
• Prior Chief Executive Officer experience preferred but not required. Candidates with experience as President, Chief Operating Officer, or an equivalent senior healthcare executive will also be considered.
• Demonstrated success leading multi‑site healthcare organizations and large‑scale operations.
• Prior leadership experience in radiology or diagnostic imaging strongly preferred.
• Proven track record of strategic planning, business development, mergers and acquisitions, and organizational growth.
• Extensive experience managing physician relationships and working collaboratively with physician shareholders and governing boards.
• Strong financial acumen with demonstrated responsibility for budgeting, financial performance, and capital planning. Demonstrated success in financial management and improving organizational financial performance is expected.
• Experience building and leading high‑performing executive teams.
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
• Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance requirements, and industry trends.

EDUCATION:

• MBA, MHA, or other relevant graduate degree preferred. Candidates with alternative credentials and exceptional healthcare leadership experience supported by demonstrated performance achievements will also be considered.
