Next, you’ll make field rounds—checking boilers, chillers, cooling towers, compressed air equipment, WFI and clean steam systems, HVAC air handlers, and process waste systems—logging conditions to maintain an inspection-ready GMP record. When issues arise, you triage via PLC/HMI, coordinate with contractors or maintenance, generate work orders and purchase orders in Maximo, and execute safe isolations using Lockout/Tagout. Throughout the shift, you’ll support sampling for TOC and conductivity, complete required GMP forms, assist with investigations and corrective actions, and communicate clearly with manufacturing, quality, engineering, and leadership to keep production on track.What You’ll Operate and MaintainUtility system monitoring and control: Field inspections and centralized oversight using BMS/EMS, PLC/HMI, PI Vision, Trane Tracer, and equipment HMIs.Steam generation and distribution: Industrial boilers; boiler water chemistry and chemical treatment; blowdowns; natural gas leak checks; condensate return networks; steam traps and condensate stations; surge and deaerator tanks; boiler feed pumps; water level controls; steam regulators; steam hot water heaters; HVAC reheat systems; awareness of boiler certifications and site compliance.Chilled and condenser water systems: Screw and centrifugal chillers; chilled and condenser water pumps; valves and controls; cooling tower operation, balancing, and water treatment; troubleshooting flow and bypass pressure; York and Trane chiller HMIs.Compressed air and vacuum: Oil-free screw compressors; desiccant air dryers; receivers, regulators, auto drains, and condensate management; dew point monitoring; Atlas Copco HMIs; plant vacuum systems.Pharma water, WFI, and clean steam: Multimedia/carbon filters; softeners and brine systems; flow meters; UV and fine filtration; reverse osmosis; purified water distribution; MECO vapor compression stills; WFI storage tanks and spray balls; MECO clean steam generators; TOC and conductivity instrumentation; routine clean water sampling; completion/review of GMP water-system forms; stainless steel passivation.HVAC and environmental control: Chilled-water and DX air handlers; reheat systems; temperature and RH control; cleanroom environmental performance; support for investigations and corrective actions related to excursions and utility alarms.Electrical, power, and fire protection: Generators, switchgear, diesel fire pumps; safe work around 480V three‑phase; relay logic/control circuit troubleshooting; Lockout/Tagout; monitoring and upkeep of the Simplex fire alarm system.Process waste and facility support: Lift stations; pH neutralization; operation of process waste systems.Control room and alarm response: Real-time monitoring; alarm triage and corrective action coordination; work order and PO creation; cross-functional communications.Maintenance, projects, shutdowns: Preventive and corrective maintenance; housekeeping, painting, and area organization; troubleshooting pumps, valves, actuators, piping, and controls; partnering with engineers and PMs on upgrades/commissioning; coordinating contractors; semi‑annual shutdown participation (extended schedules as needed).GMP, Safety, and ComplianceOperate within a regulated pharmaceutical environment; maintain GMP/SOP training compliance.Complete, review, and archive accurate GMP documentation.Support FDA and internal audits, deviation investigations, corrective actions, and inspection readiness.Follow site safety programs: confined space entry, respiratory protection, hazardous chemical handling, aseptic gowning, and powered industrial truck/lift operations.Champion continuous improvement and a safety-first mindset to support 24/7 manufacturing.Schedule CoverageProvide coverage for fellow operators as needed.Work weekends, holidays, non-standard shifts, and extended shutdown schedules to sustain continuous operations.QualificationsEducation/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical degree, trade school, military technical training, or equivalent utility operations experience preferred. 5+ years in industrial utilities, maintenance, facilities, or control room preferred. Experience in pharma/biotech/medical device or other regulated manufacturing preferred.Technical expertise: Boilers/steam and condensate systems; chilled and condenser water; cooling towers; compressed air; HVAC; purified water/WFI/clean steam; vacuum; process waste; mechanical and electrical troubleshooting (relay logic); valves and actuators (pneumatic/electric); pumps and piping; utility controls.Fabrication and tooling: Pipe fitting/hanging/bending/threading; ProPress; PVC; stick and TIG welding preferred; lathe and mill operation preferred.Automation and software: PLC/HMI platforms; Trane Tracer and Trane Tracer Ensemble (preferred); PI Vision; Maximo CMMS; Microsoft Word and Excel; ABB VFD programming preferred; PLC programming experience preferred.Licenses & certifications: Valid driver’s license required; boiler certification preferred or jurisdictionally required; forklift/JLG/Lull/scissor lift experience preferred; confined space/respirator qualification preferred; ability to perform aseptic gowning; arc flash certification preferred.Physical and Environmental RequirementsStand, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and access elevated areas throughout the shift.Lift, carry, push, and pull materials/equipment per site requirements.Work in mechanical rooms, cleanrooms, utility spaces, rooftops, confined spaces, and industrial environments.Wear required PPE, including respiratory protection when qualified and required.Work safely around steam, heat, chemicals, noise, rotating equipment, electrical systems, and other industrial hazards.Tools, Systems, and EquipmentCMMS: Maximo (work order creation/completion; purchase order support)Monitoring/Control: PLC/HMI platforms; PI Vision; Trane Tracer; equipment HMIsUtility HMIs: York and Trane chiller HMIs; Atlas Copco compressor/dryer HMIsOffice: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; general computer-based documentationMobile equipment: Forklift, Lull/telehandler, JLG, scissor liftProficiencies You BringPLC troubleshooting and programmingEquipment diagnostics and troubleshootingSteam systems management; boiler operation and troubleshooting; boiler certificationRelay testing; industrial electrical experiencePipefitting; welding setups for productionCompressed air systems; HMI systems; HVAC and environmental control systemsInternal ApplicantsHave no corrective actions at the written warning level in last six months / no final warning level in the last 12 months / no active PIP.Meet the qualifications of the position as stated above.Be in your current job for 12 months.Position applying for must be a step up in progression and not a step down.Benefits and Well‑BeingU.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives.
