HR Generalist

Position Summary We are seeking a proactive and organized HR Generalist to provide day-to-day Human Resources support for a large infrastructure project. This position will serve as a primary local HR resource for team members, supporting onboarding, employee relations, compliance, workforce coordination, performance management, and HR programs. The HR Generalist will partner with project leadership, Field Operations, Corporate HR, and team members to support workforce needs, ensure a positive employee experience, and maintain compliance with company and project requirements. Responsibilities Serve as the primary HR contact for new team members. Coordinate orientation, required training, office setup, and introductions to teams and supervisors. Provide ongoing support for employee questions, personnel issues, and conflict resolution. Maintain appropriate documentation and elevate sensitive matters to Corporate HR as needed. Manage weekly time capture for salaried team members. Coordinate FRA-related drug screening, biometrics, and other required compliance activities. Maintain accurate and confidential HR records and support required reporting. Distribute corporate HR communications and ensure timely communication to team members. Communicate craft labor needs with Field Operations and support staffing requirements. Support annual team member evaluations, including tracking and coordination. Develop and implement mentorship and employee development programs. Support employee engagement and retention initiatives. Support hiring needs as required in coordination with Corporate HR and project leadership. Assist with candidate communication, interview coordination, and staffing activities as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience. 3+ years of experience in an HR Generalist, HR Coordinator, or similar role. Experience supporting a large infrastructure, construction, transportation, or project-based workforce preferred. Knowledge of HR practices, employee relations, onboarding, and employment compliance. Familiarity with Connecticut employment law and federal employment regulations. Experience with HRIS and timekeeping systems. Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
