Negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers and prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services and supplies for customer-related business processes or for internal use as a generalist or in a combination of purchasing disciplines.

Major Position Responsibilities

This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite, TX.

This position is required to be on-site.

Summary: Negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers and prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services and supplies for customer-related business processes or for internal use as a generalist or in a combination of purchasing disciplines.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Develops and executes sourcing strategy, evaluates product offerings, recommends suppliers, and negotiates contracts for assigned categories or departments.
• Gathers business requirements and identifies and pre-qualifies potential suppliers.
• Develops and distributes RFPs/RFQs and collects bids or other information.
• Evaluates proposals/quotes based on offering quality, cost, or other criteria and recommends suppliers that are best suited to meet the organization's requirements.
• Works with selected suppliers to develop mutually acceptable contractual agreements.
• May oversee tactical purchasing operations, such as the issuance of purchase orders or the payment of invoices.
• Ensures that all procurement activities comply with internal policies and external regulations

Basic Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

• Associates Degree and/or Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education and Experience
• 5-7 years prior experience in a similar position
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree with discipline/major in Business, Supply Chain or related degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to meet deadlines and detail oriented.
• Analytical thinking skills and decision-making skills.
• Proficient with use of Microsoft Office

Preferred

• Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. This is an exciting opportunity to create the business processes, systems, and culture to stand up a high performing manufacturing operation.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
• Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

Travel Requirements
