Clinical Informatics Specialist

Providing expert oversight on healthcare integration standards, the full-time Senior Health Informatics Standards and Interoperability Consultant will develop semantic infrastructure and ensure the reliable exchange of health data across VA Medical Centers while working remotely. Key responsibilities Develop and maintain semantic infrastructure supporting enterprise clinical data, including metadata and ontology standards Design and govern ontologies and controlled vocabularies to ensure quality and consistency in clinical data representation Provide oversight of healthcare integration standards and guide the implementation of HL7, FHIR, and other relevant standards Required qualifications Master's degree in health informatics, information science, or a related field 10 years of analysis and/or management experience in health sciences, with at least 5 years focused on ontology and semantic interoperability Expert-level command of healthcare integration standards, including HL7 v2, C-CDA, and FHIR Experience working with standards bodies such as HL7, SNOMED, and CDISC Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and training in health standards to diverse audiences
