Job Title and Location University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute – Doral, Florida – Ophthalmic Imager 2 (OI2) Overview The Ophthalmic Imager 2 (OI2) will deliver comprehensive ocular imaging and diagnostic services using specialized instrumentation, documenting procedures in the electronic medical record, and ensuring accurate, timely, and patient‑centric care. Responsibilities Perform color fundus photography Conduct fluorescein angiography Perform ICG (Indocyanine Green) angiography Administer optical coherence tomography Execute automated perimetry Take slit lamp photography Document external photography and ocular motility photography Utilize specialty‑specific imaging instruments for supervised diagnostic testing, documenting procedures and uploading images into the EMR/PACS platform Provide patient‑centric care and maintain confidentiality Adhere to University of Miami policies, standards, and values Follow patient safety, hand hygiene, and infection control best practices Complete mandatory in‑services, online training, and assigned educational courses Demonstrate high quality of work through accuracy, timeliness, professionalism, and thoroughness Meet daily productivity goals; ensure equipment is calibrated and functional Participate in assigned clinical research and maintain required certifications Organize and stock rooms for daily clinical activities Travel to satellite eye centers when necessary Work evenings and weekends as required Perform organizational duties as assigned Maintain OPS certifications Assist with training of visiting imaging technicians, residents, fellows, and faculty members Collaborate with providers, residents, and fellows to train and customize imaging software, including hanging protocols Act as preceptor for imaging team members Serve as super user for imaging technology implementations and training initiatives Support residents, fellows, and faculty members with imaging presentations Perform ocular diagnostic examinations under anesthesia in the operating room using specialty‑specific imaging instruments Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent Certification and Licensing: OCT‑C (Certified Optical Coherence Tomography), CRA (Certified Retinal Angiographer) Experience: 2 years of relevant experience Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes Works well with patients of all age groups Maintains a professional appearance Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal skills Analyzes, organizes, and prioritizes while working under pressure and meeting deadlines Completes assignments accurately with attention to detail Makes independent, accurate decisions regarding optimal use of time Seeks instruction in areas requiring additional knowledge Works independently and in a collaborative environment Displays intermediate knowledge of ocular anatomy, function, and motility Demonstrates basic comprehension of refractometry Identifies imaging instruments and modalities based on diagnosis Is knowledgeable in computer software for all imaging modalities Independently performs standardized imaging protocols based on diagnosis Is competent in stereopsis technique Proficient in Microsoft Office Benefits The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, tuition remission, and more.
