Visual Field Technician - Bascom Palmer Eye Institute - Full Time - Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Position Overview Visual Field Technician – Full time, Staff. Location: Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Core Job Functions Determine optical characteristics of spectacle lenses using lensometer or auto lensometer. Perform test procedures on patients of all ages, including confrontation fields, Humphrey visual fields, virtual reality visual fields (VRVF), tangent screen visual fields, Amsler grid, contact lens insertion/removal, eye drops administration, and auto refraction. Educate patients on testing procedures. Monitor progress and facilitate testing for patients undergoing diagnostic testing and consultations in other departments. Serve as liaison between physicians and patients, and within other departments. Attend educational courses for ophthalmic personnel as assigned. Perform organizational duties, ensure equipment calibration, maintain proper instrumentation. Participate in clinical research and maintain required certifications. Assist in stocking rooms for daily clinical activities. Make suggestions to Physicians and/or Practice Managers regarding potential practice improvements. Handle medical emergencies per hospital policy, prioritizing patient safety. Adhere to University and unit-level policies and safeguard University assets. Core Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, relevant experience, certification or license. Certification/Licensing: Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements. Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience. BLS Certification from American Heart Association. Knowledge & Skills: Learning agility, teamwork, technical proficiency with office software and relevant applications, strong written and verbal communication.
