Role Overview

We are looking for a Backend Developer to develop, optimise, and maintain scalable backend systems. This remote role requires expertise in server-side development, database management, and API integrations , with a focus on delivering high-performance applications for users across the Asia-Pacific & Japan (APJ) region.

The ideal candidate will have experience in cloud-based environments, microservices architecture, and modern backend frameworks .

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance backend applications .
Design, implement, and optimise RESTful and GraphQL APIs .
Work with relational and NoSQL databases to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval .
Implement security best practices , authentication, and data encryption techniques.
Collaborate with frontend developers, DevOps, and product teams to deliver seamless integrations.
Optimise backend processes for performance, scalability, and fault tolerance .
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code .
Stay up to date with emerging backend technologies and best practices .

Required Skills & Experience

3+ years of experience in backend development.
Strong proficiency in Python, Node.js, Java, or Go .
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) .
Proficiency in database management ( PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or DynamoDB ).
Hands-on experience with microservices architecture and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) .
Understanding of API security, authentication (OAuth, JWT), and data encryption .
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and DevOps practices .
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Nice to Have

Experience with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Redis Pub/Sub) .
Knowledge of serverless computing and event-driven architectures.
Exposure to automated testing and test-driven development (TDD) .
Familiarity with AI/ML model deployment in backend environments.
