RN Progressive Care Unit

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) provides skilled nursing care to patients with cardiac and respiratory conditions. The RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, planning and implementing individualized care plans, monitoring patient status, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary healthcare team. This role requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to contribute to a supportive and collaborative work environment. A minimum of two years of nursing experience and an active Illinois RN license are required. Responsibilities:

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Provide explanations and instructions to patients and their responsible persons.
• Use clinical judgment to recognize and report changes in patient condition.
• Maintain accurate and complete medical records.
• Participate in continuing education and meet Core Measure responsibilities related to patient care.
• Contribute to a healthy workplace environment by managing conflict with professional communication skills.
• Provide nursing care to a patient ratio of 4:1 in the PCU setting.

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse license.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience.
• Clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Strong interdisciplinary team collaboration and communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.

• ACLS certification.
• Experience in cardiac and respiratory patient care.
• Certifications or experience in ICU, Stepdown, Emergency Room, or other critical care areas.

• No on-call requirements.
• Overtime available for interested staff.
• Every other weekend and holiday shifts required.
• Supportive and collaborative department culture with visible management presence.

• Day shift schedule with patient ratio of 4:1.
• Block schedules are not guaranteed but preferred schedules will be accommodated when possible.
