Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living, providing basic nursing care, and helping maintain a safe and clean environment under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. This role is essential to uphold the philosophies and standards of the facility and nursing department.

Responsibilities:

• Perform resident care activities including answering call lights, serving and collecting food trays, and feeding residents as needed.
• Measure and record food and liquid intake and outputs, including drainage systems as ordered.
• Assist residents with daily living activities such as dressing, bathing, and personal hygiene, ensuring privacy and dignity.
• Execute routine treatments and procedures, including warm and cold applications, and assist RN/LPN with more complex procedures.
• Collect specimens such as stool, urine, or sputum.
• Take and record vital signs, weight, and height.
• Provide general nursing care including positioning, lifting, and turning residents, and assisting with bed pans and commodes.
• Prepare resident rooms and beds for new admissions and ensure cleanliness and safety in resident areas.
• Report any changes in residents' conditions or behaviors to the RN/LPN.
• Follow established policies, procedures, and objectives regarding safety, quality assurance, and infection control.
• Participate in meetings, in-services, and educational programs to stay informed and up to date.

Education/Experience/Licensure:

Must be certified through the appropriate state nursing board.

Working Environment:

Potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues. This position requires exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds consistently to move objects.
