HEAD CHEF – UPSCALE ITALIAN RESTAURANT

Our client, a highly respected upscale Italian restaurant brand with more than 30 years of success, is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead its culinary operations in Burlingame, CA.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on culinary leader with strong Italian or fine Mediterranean cuisine experience, financial acumen, and a passion for developing successful kitchen teams.

HEAD CHEF RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct all back-of-house operations in partnership with the General Manager

• Recruit, hire, train, and develop sous chefs and hourly kitchen employees

• Manage food and labor costs to achieve financial and operational goals

• Maintain full back-of-house P&L responsibility

• Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation across all stations

• Ensure recipes and quality standards are consistently followed

• Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, invoice processing, and food-cost controls

• Maintain exceptional kitchen cleanliness, sanitation, and workplace safety

• Build a positive, accountable, and team-oriented kitchen culture

• Uphold outstanding food quality and five-star guest-service standards

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of experience running an upscale, full-service restaurant with full P&L responsibility for the back-of-house
• 3+ years Italian cuisine experience
• Knowledge of and ability to use inventory systems, controls and analysis
• Knowledge of and ability to control labor cost, systems and analysis
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Fluent use of the written and verbal English language
• Ability to speak Kitchen Spanish or more is a Plus
• Strong initiative, ability to work on your own and direct others
