Job Title

Travel Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC) / Stepdown

Contract | Travel | 13 Weeks | Night Shift (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit serving a primary population of CV surgery and vascular surgery patients, including open heart surgery, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomies
• Manage overflow medical cardiology patients presenting with diagnoses such as heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, and heart block
• Perform and oversee epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, and IV glucommander protocols
• Administer and monitor cardiac drip management including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
• Maintain a 1:5 patient-to-RN ratio utilizing Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and Cerner EMR
• Float as needed to stepdown, medical-surgical, or ER inpatient holding units per staffing requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Stepdown experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Ability to meet weekend requirements (minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period) and flexibility to work holidays

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience within the past year with CV surgery and vascular surgery patient populations, including open heart surgery, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, and fem-pop bypass
• CVICU experience
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR
