Education and Experience Associate's degree equivalent to four (4) years of experience Bachelor's degree equivalent to eight (8) years of experience Under the general direction of the Teacher, the Teacher Assistant will provide support through classroom and playground supervision of children, preparation of materials for learning activities, participation and guidance in children’s learning activities. Assist in providing a safe and sanitary environment for children, regularly communicate with parents/guardians and maintenance of children and family records. Employee follows detailed instructions and established procedures in accomplishing assignments. Current physical exam/tuberculosis test clearance, Hepatitis B series I, II, III complete. Qualified American Indian Preference applies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with planning and preparation of age-appropriate activities for preschool children. Provide for the safety of children. Attend to health and safety procedures as they pertain to the diapering and toileting of children ages 0-5. Assist with daily health checks of children. Co-facilitate the implementation of daily curriculum. Assist with Xaa-wan'-k Early Learning Program (XELP) source of on-going assessment Teaching Strategies/Creative Curriculum as requested by the Lead Teacher. Assist in discussing child’s developmental progress with parents/guardians during daily conversations, during home visits and parents’ conferences. Obtain supplies and arrange space for a variety of activities according to the lesson plan. Assist in classroom, meal and playground supervision of children, all emergency drills. Keep records of participant attendance and complete in-kind paperwork daily. Assist with upkeep of the classroom including routine cleaning, sanitization and rotation of materials. Encourage parental involvement in the program and maintain ongoing communication with parents/guardians in a professional and respectful manner, with confidentiality in mind. Attend training conferences/meetings with site staff and parents to keep abreast of current requirements. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: meets or exceeds 1302.40 1302.47 45 CFR 1302.91(d)(1)(a) AA degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. 1 year of experience working with children ages 0-5. Possess a valid driver’s license to drive agency vehicle(s). CPR and First Aid within 60 days. Mandated Reporter certification with 60 days. Physical Requirements: Use hands and arms to operate office or field equipment. Sit more than half the workday. Stand and/or walk less than half the workday. Bend, stretch, twist, crouch and/or reach View electronic monitors for prolonged periods of time. Use hands and arm for repetitive motion tasks consistently for more than one hour at a time. Lift or carry unaided less than 50 pounds. Push or pull using up to moderate force. See and hear with normal acuity.
