This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Associate General Counsel based in United States.

This role serves as a strategic legal advisor supporting the development, manufacture, regulatory compliance, lifecycle management, and commercialization of medical technology products across North America. You will partner with business leaders and cross-functional teams to provide practical legal guidance throughout the full product lifecycle. The position combines commercial contracting, healthcare regulatory advice, product development support, risk management, and strategic transaction work. You will collaborate with teams across research and development, engineering, quality, regulatory, procurement, manufacturing, clinical, medical, sales, and marketing. A key focus is translating complex legal and regulatory requirements into practical, business-oriented solutions that support innovation and growth. You will also contribute to modernizing legal service delivery through AI, Enterprise Legal Management, Contract Lifecycle Management, and other technology-enabled tools. This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced attorney who can operate independently, build trusted relationships, and thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

Accountabilities:

• Provide strategic legal advice to product-area leadership and functional stakeholders on legal, regulatory, and contractual matters affecting medical and healthcare technology products.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a broad range of agreements, including development, clinical and research, technology and software, supply and manufacturing, quality, distribution, and strategic collaboration agreements.
• Support research and development, engineering, product management, and innovation teams on new product development, product enhancements, software-enabled technologies, artificial intelligence solutions, and strategic initiatives.
• Advise sourcing and procurement teams on commercial transactions and transformative initiatives.
• Counsel stakeholders on requirements arising under the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, healthcare fraud and abuse laws, data privacy and cybersecurity requirements, and other regulations affecting the medical technology sector.
• Partner with sales leadership to structure and negotiate customer transactions, commercial programs, and arrangements while maintaining compliance with applicable healthcare regulatory requirements.
• Advise marketing and commercial operations on promotional materials and strategies in accordance with applicable medical device promotional rules.
• Support strategic transactions, acquisitions, integrations, product launches, technology partnerships, and other business growth initiatives.
• Collaborate with legal, intellectual property, ethics and compliance, regulatory, quality, medical and clinical affairs, data privacy, information technology, and operations teams to identify and manage legal and business risks.
• Develop and enhance legal department standards, templates, playbooks, workflows, and self-service resources to improve consistency, efficiency, and risk management.
• Contribute to the adoption and advancement of legal technology solutions, including AI-enabled tools, Enterprise Legal Management systems, Contract Lifecycle Management systems, and other legal operations technologies.
• Promote high standards of ethical conduct and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
• Exercise sound legal and business judgment when escalating issues and developing practical solutions for complex matters.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant legal experience, including significant law firm and/or in-house experience.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited program.
• Active admission to at least one U.S. state bar.
• Deep experience drafting, negotiating, and advising internal stakeholders on a broad range of routine and complex commercial agreements.
• Experience using Enterprise Legal Management and AI tools to improve and streamline the delivery of in-house legal services.
• Familiarity with advising organizations operating in highly regulated industries, particularly on matters involving the FDCA, Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, HIPAA, and related healthcare regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to provide practical legal advice quickly in fast-paced environments while balancing competing priorities.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build trust and effective relationships with colleagues and business clients.
• Highly self-motivated and capable of independently moving both routine legal matters and complex, multi-stakeholder projects forward.
• Strong business judgment and ability to translate legal and regulatory requirements into actionable recommendations.
• Digital fluency and comfort leveraging modern legal technology, including AI, ELM, and CLM platforms, to improve legal operations and service delivery.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across diverse business and functional teams while maintaining appropriate legal standards and risk controls.
