Overview Meat Department Manager — $21.50 - $26.50 per hour • Full-time Permanent Position 40 hours per week on average Health, dental, vision, life, and AD&D insurance 401K Retirement Package with up to 4% employer match Paid Vacation and Personal Time Training and Scholarships up to $1,000 per term Premium Pay increase of 0.50¢/hour for all eligible employees working any hours on Saturday-Sunday, and weekdays before 6 am, or after 7 pm Position Overview Plan, direct, and coordinate daily operations of the Meat Department. Meet sales, gross, and labor goals. Department scheduling and time card approval. Staff recruitment, orientation, and training. Workplace safety. Basic maintenance and repairs. Additional duties include receiving, storing, and issuing sales floor merchandise; stocking shelves, racks, cases, bins, and tables with merchandise; and arranging merchandise displays to attract customers. Identify and wrap cuts of meat using manual and mechanical methods. May periodically take physical counts of stock or check and mark merchandise. Essential Job Functions Answer customers' questions about merchandise and advise on merchandise selection. Stock shelves, racks, cases, bins, and tables with new or transferred merchandise. Receive, open, unpack, and issue sales floor merchandise. Clean display cases, shelves, and aisles. Compare merchandise invoices to items received to ensure shipments are correct. Wrap, weigh, label, and price cuts of meat. Prepare and place meat cuts and products on the display counter to appear attractive to customers. Direct and coordinate activities of department production, pricing, and sales. Review performance data and assess goal achievement to determine areas needing improvement. Manage staff, oversee work schedules, and assign specific duties. Establish and implement departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures. Communicate issues with subordinates and superiors as necessary. Determine staffing requirements, interview, hire, and oversee training of new employees. Work with other managers in planning and directing promotional activities. Oversee workplace safety in the Meat Department. Knowledge of departmental mechanical systems, monitoring and basic maintenance of equipment. Requirements Previous Department Manager, Supervisor, or equivalent experience Ability to pass a background check Intermediate knowledge and experience with computer systems Experience using office suites in a business setting, or equivalent education Ability to follow written instructions exactly Comfort performing monetary transactions Ability to communicate clearly with employees, customers, and vendors Strong organizational skills Other Skills/Abilities Administration and Management — Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
