AMT | Medical Assistant - Occupational Health

Job Summary: Provide essential support in healthcare delivery and patient care management within a clinical setting. Responsibilities vary based on the practice's needs at any given time.

Essential Responsibilities:
1. Deliver direct and delegated patient care, maintaining awareness of normal and abnormal indicators to identify at-risk clients. Follow established standards and guidelines to ensure quality care. Manage telephone triage with professionalism, offering reassurance, accurate education, and clear instructions.
2. Facilitate efficient healthcare service delivery throughout patient visits. Ensure medical records are complete, accurate, and up to date. Initiate patient contact, prepare patients for examinations, and collect vital signs including weight, age, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, history, and chief complaints. Monitor patients for abnormal signs, communicate findings to physicians, and document accordingly. Confirm patient understanding of physician instructions upon discharge. Accurately document medical records and billing information in electronic systems.
3. Assist with testing and treatment procedures under physician supervision. Support physicians by applying splints and dressings, executing physician orders, managing sample medications and logs, coordinating patient testing and admissions, and obtaining necessary referrals. Retrieve test results and notify patients as needed. Aid in preparation for minor surgeries and physical exams. Secure appropriate consents before invasive procedures or immunizations. Distribute educational materials and assist patients in understanding treatment plans and medication usage. Perform laboratory tests and maintain lab logs.
4. Maintain clinical areas by ensuring all patient care spaces, equipment, and materials are well-stocked and organized. Order and manage supplies to keep exam rooms clean, waste-free, and compliant with cleaning protocols. Ensure instruments are sterile and equipment functions properly.
5. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Required:
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant or Nursing Program is required.

This position operates on a first shift schedule within a regional healthcare setting in the Midwest United States, offering approximately 24 hours per week.
