Payroll Specialist

EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time, Temporary-Hire COMPENSATION: $30-33/hour WORK MODEL: Onsite The Opportunity This position is responsible for processing accurate and timely weekly payroll in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment. The Payroll Specialist will play a key role in maintaining payroll compliance, ensuring data integrity, and supporting the Payroll Manager with payroll administration and related office functions. The ideal candidate has experience processing high-volume payroll, preferably in a union and construction environment, possesses exceptional organizational skills, and demonstrates a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism. Key Responsibilities Process accurate and timely weekly payroll. Administer multi-union payroll, ensuring compliance with applicable collective bargaining agreements and company policies. Review, audit, and validate employee timecards for accuracy, including job assignments, dates worked, employee information, approvals, and required signatures across multiple companies. Verify payroll data, earnings, deductions, and taxes to ensure accurate payroll calculations and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Calculate and process weekly fringe benefit payments based on payroll data and applicable union requirements. Process new hires, terminations, wage changes, benefit deductions, and other employee payroll changes in a timely manner. Maintain accurate payroll records and prepare payroll reports as requested. Respond to employee payroll inquiries professionally and efficiently while maintaining confidentiality. Assist the Payroll Manager with payroll administration, reporting, audits, and other departmental projects as needed. Support continuous improvement of payroll processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience, construction industry experience a plus. Experience processing multi-union payroll strongly preferred. Experience with Miter Payroll or similar payroll software is highly preferred. Knowledge of payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, payroll taxes, and union payroll practices. Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
