Job Title: Phlebotomist

Duration: 8 weeks

Shift: Day and Night Hours per Shift: 7.5 hours

Experience: 1 year

License: Required Certifications: Registered Phlebotomist

Must-Have: Must be available to work nights, days, or evenings; a combination of all shifts is expected. EPIC experience is required.

Description: Combination of inpatient and outpatient care. Patients include neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Previous experience in a hospital or outpatient lab is preferred. You will receive your schedule two weeks prior to the start of that week. Patient diagnoses will vary based on inpatient and outpatient census. Responsibilities include performing blood draws, instructing patients on proper specimen collection, and caring for post-venipuncture sites. You will prioritize patient collections based on order requests, including stat, timed, and routine. Familiarity with blood culture bottles, various blood collection tubes, and laboratory requisitions is essential. You will process specimens for the laboratory, including centrifugation, aliquoting, and proper storage. Knowledge of quality assurance and controls, as well as standard and transmission-based precautions, is expected. You should be prepared to handle emergency situations, maintain proper disposal practices, and ensure correct specimen labeling.
