Scientist / Senior Scientist, tLNP Formulation and Delivery
Basecamp Research
Basecamp Research seeks a Scientist or Senior Scientist to develop targeted lipid nanoparticle (tLNP) formulations for AI-designed genetic medicines. The role involves end-to-end formulation design, bioconjugation, physicochemical characterization, and collaboration with cell biology teams to enable extrahepatic tissue delivery of novel therapeutics.
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize tLNP formulations with varying lipid compositions to achieve extrahepatic tissue tropism
- Perform bioconjugation of targeting ligands (antibodies, nanobodies, peptides) to LNP surfaces
- Execute routine and advanced analytical characterization of formulated nanoparticles
- Partner with cell biology team to develop and run in vitro uptake and functional assays
- Support in vivo study design and serve as technical interface for animal studies
Requirements
- Advanced degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field
- Demonstrated expertise in lipid nanoparticle formulation and optimization
- Experience with bioconjugation chemistry and surface modification techniques
- Proficiency in LNP characterization methods (DLS, zeta potential, encapsulation assays)
- Strong in vitro and in vivo study design and execution capabilities
- Experience directing contract research organizations for custom synthesis
