Health Information Technician
The Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery is seeking to hire a Health Information Technician for the Madden Mental Health Center located in Hines, Illinois to prepare and code all clinical records including medical and psychiatric diagnoses. Interprets and evaluates technical and complex clinical records and conducts clinical chart audits. Serves on various facility-wide committees. Serves as facility representative when testifying in court ordered hearings on health information records. Coordinates release of information activities. Essential functions include preparing and coding all clinical records, interpreting and evaluating technical and complex clinical records, serving on facility-wide committees, reviewing petitions, certificates and related documents pertaining to civil commitment, utilizing a personal computer, software, hardware, and agency mainframe applications to produce special reports, charts, forms, and graphs for summaries and displays of health information records, coordinating release of information activities, maintaining a list of charts that have not been coded and entered into the system, and attending and actively participating in all mandatory training.
Minimum qualifications include knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two (2) years of college, one (1) year of experience in health information records procedures, and accreditation as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). Conditions of employment include the ability to utilize personal computers, hardware, and software applications to produce special reports, charts, forms, and graphs for summaries and displays of health information records, passing the IDHS background check, and passing a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
Work hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm; 30-minute unpaid lunch. The headquarter location is 1200 S 1st Ave, Hines, Illinois, 60141. The agency contact is View email address on click.appcast.io.
