Server Job Responsibilities

Supervise and observe the dining experience of customers to ensure they are satisfied with the food and service, respond promptly and courteously to correct any problems.

Collect customer bills.

Write down customers' food orders and enter the orders into computers to transmit them to the kitchen.

Prepare bills that detail and total the costs of meals, drinks, and sales taxes.

Verify the identification of customers to ensure they meet the minimum age requirements for the consumption of alcoholic beverages.

Prepare or serve special dishes and drinks at tables as needed.

Present menus to customers and answer questions about the menu, drinks, and other restaurant services.

Inform customers about menu changes, daily specials, and make recommendations that you really feel your customers will enjoy.

Clean tables before, during, and after customers consume meals and drinks.

Prepare hot, cold, mixed drinks, and chill wine bottles for customers.

Roll out silverware, prepare the waiter station, and set up dining areas to prepare for the next service. Fill service areas with supplies, dishes, silverware, and napkins.

Help the host or hostess (Host) by answering phones to take reservations, takeout orders, receiving, seating, and thanking customers.

Perform cleaning tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, tidying up the waiter station, taking out trash, checking, and cleaning the bathroom.
