Rare Opening for an Accounts Payable Clerk

Job Summary:

The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for keying any area of Accounts Payable that may need help. This could include inventory, asphalt plants, rock quarries, or general office expenses. Performing routine accounting activities such as maintenance of the accounts payable records, processing invoices, and supporting the team in ensuring timely and accurate payment of vendor invoices. This entry-level position requires attention to detail, a commitment to data integrity, and excellent communication skills.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Review, verify, and process invoices and payment requests in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Match purchase orders, receipts, and supporting documentation to invoices.
  • Enter and update accounts payable transactions in the accounting system.
  • Respond to inquiries and resolve discrepancies or issues professionally and promptly.
  • Assist with weekly check runs and electronic payments.
  • Maintain accurate and organized files of invoices, approvals, and related documentation.
  • Support month-end closing activities by reconciling accounts payable records and preparing reports as needed.
  • Assist with other general accounting duties or special projects as assigned and not otherwise specified.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of experience in an office, administrative, or accounting role.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and accounting software.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Strong ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Viewpoint, Tremble, Vista).
  • Prior experience in an accounts payable or data entry support role.
Key Skills and Competencies:
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Customer service orientation when interacting with internal and external stakeholders
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer.
