Overview Mission Advancement Executive Advisor – San Francisco Bay, CA. The American Heart Association, founded in 1924, has cut cardiovascular disease deaths in half. Responsibilities Advance the association’s mission by establishing and cultivating relationships with ultra‑ and high‑net‑worth individuals to increase giving and build long‑term relationships. Develop, cultivate, and steward a portfolio of individual donors and prospects, including premier relationship management and development/presentation of proposals, budgets, concepts, and timelines. Leverage mastery of mission content and donor relationship management to support the creation of highly complex gift opportunities and inspire donors to give at capacity. Prepare and deliver presentations, concept notes, correspondence, proposals, and other written and spoken materials that are compelling, persuasive, and competitive in collaboration with implementation colleagues and subject matter authorities. Ensure revenue goals are met and mission priorities are funded. Provide leadership and management for a portfolio of donors with capacity to give six, seven, and eight‑figure gifts, ensuring strategic development plans and multiple touchpoints. Conduct internal and external research on prospective donors, build an understanding of donor goals, and match potential donors for priority project funding and general support. Engage with leadership and staff nationwide to maximize funder engagement and revenue. Continuously add to the pipeline to ensure adequate support and achievement of goals. Maintain accurate and fully detailed donor and prospect information in Salesforce CRM promptly; use CRM outputs and records to measure fundraising performance. Participate in association and mission advancement team projects and initiatives as requested. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience. Eight years of relevant experience. Experience cultivating high‑net‑worth donor relationships, writing proposals, developing budgets, and sharing outcomes/deliverables; proven track record of closing high‑capacity gifts. Experience managing and leading cross‑functional groups, facilitating strategy and action with a collaborative focus. Knowledge and experience in tech, health, venture capital, and/or research sectors. Excellent communication, organization, and relationship‑building skills. Strong critical thinking, judgment, and strategic decision‑making. Ability to travel up to 40% locally and overnight. Preferred Experience Experience and knowledge of health and public health initiatives. Experience working with complex and innovative philanthropic vehicles (venture capital, venture philanthropy, donor‑advised funds, family offices, LLCs, etc.). Experience working with Charitable Estate Planning team. Certified Fund‑Raising Executive (CFRE) or Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP) credential preferred. Compensation & Benefits Salary minimum to midpoint range $165,300 to $185,000. Position is incentive eligible up to 25% based on achieving certain targets.
