Registered Nurse - PICU

Job Description

Job Summary:

Seeking a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) RN for a float pool position, providing coverage across various pediatric units including PICU, NICU, peds med-surg, peds PACU, peds ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby. This role requires flexibility to float within the pediatric department and adapt to different clinical settings.

Responsibilities:

• Provide expert nursing care to pediatric patients in the PICU and other pediatric units.
• Float seamlessly between units, including NICU, med-surg, PACU, ED, and postpartum, following facility policies.
• Prepare and administer medications, treatments, and interventions per physician orders and protocols.
• Monitor patient conditions, document findings accurately in electronic medical records, and communicate updates to healthcare team.
• Adhere to safety standards, infection control policies, and clinical guidelines.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid state RN license; pending licenses accepted with in-hand documentation prior to start.
• Minimum of 2 years PICU experience required.
• Experienced with NICU and PICU patient care and comfortable floating across pediatric units.
• Certification in BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS; Pediatric Driven Feeding certification preferred.
• Demonstrate proficiency in Epic electronic health record systems.
• Able to adhere to facility and UVA float policies, including scope of practice.
