Job Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment, facilities, and grounds to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic tasks, including PLC troubleshooting, to minimize downtime and keep equipment in optimal working condition.

• Troubleshoot and diagnose PLC-controlled systems to quickly identify and resolve issues that impact production.
• Perform general maintenance tasks on equipment, buildings, and grounds, ensuring all areas remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.
• Carry out a variety of general tasks, including painting, bolting, welding, machining, simple plumbing, basic heating and air service, and electrical connections and disconnections.
• Make general repairs to production equipment, including pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems, to maintain reliable operation.
• Troubleshoot equipment when it is down and restore it to production-ready condition in a timely manner to reduce downtime.
• Conduct preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment to identify issues early and extend equipment life.
• Work with three-phase motors, 480V systems, relays, sensors, and related electrical components to support production operations.
• Collaborate with other maintenance team members to share knowledge and ensure consistent maintenance practices.
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks to protect people, equipment, and facilities.
• Document maintenance activities as required to support accurate records and future troubleshooting.

• Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting, including the ability to diagnose and correct issues in automated systems.
• Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, including repair and maintenance.
• Hands-on experience with pneumatic systems, including repair and maintenance.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including working with 480V systems, relays, sensors, and three-phase motors.
• Ability to perform mechanical troubleshooting and repair on production equipment.
• Experience as a multi-craft technician, capable of working across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic disciplines.
• Ability to perform preventative maintenance on production equipment.
• Familiarity with PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley or similar systems.
• Ability to perform basic welding, machining, and simple plumbing tasks.
• Capability to perform basic heating and air service tasks and electrical connections/disconnections.
• Strong troubleshooting skills to quickly return equipment to production state when issues occur.

• Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Comfort working with a variety of tools and equipment for mechanical and electrical maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
• Good communication skills to coordinate with operations and other departments.
• Willingness to support different tasks as needed to maintain equipment, buildings, and grounds.

The work environment is clean and organized, providing a professional setting focused on safety and reliability. The facility is not climate controlled, so temperatures may vary with the seasons. Typical shift options include 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with flexibility to adjust as needed based on operational demands. You will work with production machinery, electrical systems up to 480V, three-phase motors, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, and a range of tools used for welding, machining, plumbing, and general maintenance tasks. The role involves hands-on work on the production floor and within facility spaces, requiring appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portland, TN.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.
