Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving industrial manufacturing equipment, building systems, and facility property in a metal shop environment. You will ensure safe, reliable operation of mechanical and electrical machinery, support production and engineering teams, and contribute to long-term equipment performance through preventive maintenance and continuous improvement.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace at all times, following all safety guidelines and procedures.
• Follow established maintenance schedules and perform all required tasks in accordance with preventive maintenance plans.
• Adjust and optimize maintenance schedules based on equipment age, upgrades, repairs, and observed performance.
• Add and remove assets, tasks, and intervals in the digital maintenance program to keep records accurate and up to date.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and industrial equipment issues, including cranes, hydraulics, pneumatics, and related systems.
• Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs, including industrial wiring and simple drive control work, within scope of experience.
• Coordinate scheduling and activities with outside contractors for work performed externally on equipment, building, or property.
• Train production staff on proper daily and weekly maintenance guidelines, safe operation, and basic care of equipment.
• Perform and/or coordinate general building maintenance in both office and shop areas, ensuring facility systems operate effectively.
• Perform and/or coordinate property upkeep, including grounds and exterior building needs.
• Conduct weekly and monthly safety walk-throughs and evaluations, documenting findings and following up on corrective actions.
• Manage and direct other maintenance department employees and interns, including task assignment and support.
• Work directly with the production office on equipment upgrades and new installations, ensuring proper setup and integration.
• Calculate and communicate equipment life expectancy and recommended upgrade or replacement timeframes to stakeholders.
• Support the engineering department with R&D testing projects, including setup, monitoring, and maintenance of test equipment.
• Calibrate measurement equipment to ISO standards to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Operate and drive the company truck for maintenance and production-related job duties as needed.
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, boom lifts, and scissor lifts safely to perform maintenance and support production activities.
• Use digital maintenance software and common computer programs to document work, track schedules, and report equipment status.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing maintenance department role.
• Industrial maintenance experience with mechanical machine troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills for industrial equipment, including cranes, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Ability to perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs; some PLC exposure is acceptable but not required.
• Experience with industrial wiring and simple drive control systems.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to work effectively across departments.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in planning and documenting maintenance activities.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately while maintaining safety and quality standards.
• Ability to work and communicate as part of a team, collaborating with production, engineering, and leadership.
• Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude for diagnosing and resolving equipment issues.
• Adaptability to a constantly changing work environment and shifting priorities.
• Familiarity with common computer programs, including office software, web browsers, and digital maintenance guides.
• Strong computer skills for maintaining and using digital maintenance software.
• Ability to operate forklifts safely in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to operate overhead cranes safely and in accordance with procedures.
• Ability to operate boom lifts and scissor lifts safely.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Prior maintenance management experience is preferred but not required.
• Technical certification in industrial maintenance or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Experience working in a metal shop manufacturing environment is beneficial.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs and scheduling tools.
• Comfort working in a large warehouse setting with multiple individual work cells such as welding and painting.
• Ability to support R&D testing and equipment calibration to ISO standards.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a company truck for work-related tasks.

This role is based in a metal shop manufacturing company of approximately 48 people, operating in a large warehouse building with mostly individual work cells, including welding and painting areas. The facility uses overhead cranes, forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and a range of industrial machinery. Work is performed on-site in both shop and office areas, with regular movement throughout the building and property. The available shifts include 1st shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and 2nd shift from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The environment is hands-on, industrial, and safety-focused, with work attire appropriate for a metal fabrication and manufacturing setting.

This is a Permanent position based out of Morgantown, PA.

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
