Apogee Behavioral Medicine is seeking an experienced psychiatric nurse practitioner or physician assistant to lead clinical services across our clinics.

This role combines people leadership, clinical operations, and direct patient care. You’ll develop our Clinic Leads, support and coach psychiatric providers, and improve the everyday processes that help patients receive timely, consistent care. You’ll also oversee Prompt Care, our rapid-access telehealth service.

Approximately 60% of your time will focus on administrative leadership and 40% on patient care, with a caseload aligned to the clinical portion of your role.

What you’ll do

Clinical leadership and operations — approximately 60%

• Lead our Clinic Leads. Manage and develop the team, helping them implement improvements, mentor colleagues, and address barriers at their clinics.
• Improve clinical workflows. Standardize and maintain the processes prescribers rely on, including documentation, refills, and EHR workflows. Help teams adopt changes consistently.
• Oversee Prompt Care. Guide daily delivery and performance of our rapid-access telehealth service, including intakes, short-term bridge visits, and daytime refill and in-basket coverage for providers on PTO.
• Coach providers and support performance. Set clear expectations, use performance and productivity metrics to identify needs, and provide timely feedback, training, and documented follow-up. Partner with the System Medical Director on clinical-practice concerns.
• Help new prescribers succeed. Lead onboarding and provide EHR support as new clinicians transition to independent work. Monitor continuing medical education participation and address gaps.
• Support staffing and continuity. Coordinate coverage during extended absences, interview prescriber candidates, and advise on hiring needs.
• Track progress. Review provider performance and report results, barriers, and improvement priorities to the Senior Director of Clinical Operations.

Direct patient care and clinical support — approximately 40%

• Maintain a psychiatric caseload appropriate to your allocated clinical time.
• Provide daytime on-call backup for unavailable providers, including crisis calls, as needed.
• Serve as backup to the Provider Support Manager for crisis monitoring and response.

What you’ll bring

• Current, unrestricted North Carolina licensure as a physician assistant or psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, with applicable PA-C or PMHNP-BC certification and active DEA registration.
• At least three years of clinical experience as a psychiatric advanced practice provider.
• At least two years of experience leading clinical support staff or providers.
• Experience improving and standardizing workflows and using metrics to guide performance.
• Working knowledge of prescription refill processes and EHR workflows.
• The ability to give constructive feedback, address performance concerns, and help colleagues develop.
• A collaborative leadership approach and commitment to professional medical ethics and patient-centered care.
• Familiarity with TMS, Spravato, and REMS programs is preferred, as is an MBA, MHA, or formal management training. These are not required.
