A leading national commercial real estate finance and investment firm is seeking a Director of Strategic Asset Resolution to lead complex workouts, turn around underperforming assets, and identify value creation opportunities across multifamily and healthcare portfolios.

\n

This newly created position reports directly to the CFO and works across the firm’s servicing and bridge asset management platforms. The role offers significant exposure to executive leadership and the potential to assume broader oversight of both asset management teams over time.

\n

We are seeking an experienced real estate professional who combines hands-on asset execution with sophisticated transaction structuring and capital allocation judgment.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Develop and execute strategies for distressed and underperforming real estate assets, including operational improvements, restructuring, recapitalization, repositioning, redevelopment, and disposition.
\n
• Lead complex workouts and negotiate with lenders, special servicers, borrowers, guarantors, investors, and joint venture partners.
\n
• Evaluate property performance, business plans, capital requirements, valuation, and potential paths to resolution.
\n
• Structure transactions involving debt, preferred equity, joint venture equity, additional capital, and development partners.
\n
• Identify opportunities to create value through leasing, capital improvements, redevelopment, changes in use, and financing solutions.
\n
• Determine when additional investment is warranted and when an exit best protects capital.
\n
• Evaluate new distressed investments and other special situations, leading selected opportunities from initial assessment through negotiation and execution.
\n
• Coordinate across asset management platforms and maintain accountability for asset strategy, performance, and results.
\n
• Present recommendations to executive leadership and investment committees regarding risk, capital needs, and expected outcomes.

Qualifications

\n

\n
• Ideally 15+ years of commercial real estate experience in asset management, principal investing, special situations, development, restructuring, or workouts.
\n
• Demonstrated success turning around troubled or underperforming real estate assets.
\n
• Significant experience leading workouts, recapitalizations, and complex negotiations.
\n
• Deep understanding of real estate operations, development economics, valuation, and debt and equity capital structures.
\n
• Proven ability to structure, negotiate, and execute complex transactions.
\n
• Strong financial analysis, commercial judgment, and executive communication skills.
\n
• Ability to influence stakeholders, navigate difficult negotiations, and drive execution across teams.
\n
• An entrepreneurial, decisive, and accountable approach.
\n
• Multifamily and healthcare experience preferred; experience spanning lender-side workouts and owner-side asset management is especially valuable.
