About the Position

Mayer Fabrics is looking for a detail-oriented and dependable Part-Time Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Accounting team. This position will provide administrative and accounting support with a primary focus on customer credit applications, payment processing, account maintenance, credit memos, and other Accounts Receivable activities.

This is a great opportunity for someone with prior accounting, billing, credit, or administrative experience who enjoys working with numbers, staying organized, and ensuring details are accurate.

What You'll Do

• Process and maintain new customer credit applications and ensure required information is complete and accurate.
• Process and record customer payments, including checks, wire transfers, and credit card payments.
• Ensure payments are accurately applied to the appropriate customer accounts.
• Prepare and process customer credit memos and maintain appropriate supporting documentation and approvals.
• Monitor and assist with customer credit holds and communicate account status with appropriate internal team members.
• Maintain and update customer account information in company systems.
• Assist with periodic reviews to ensure Accounts Receivable information remains accurate and current.
• Assist with customer outreach requesting updated Accounts Receivable information.
• Help ensure customers have the correct remittance address and provide updated remittance instructions when needed.
• Assist with recurring Accounts Receivable projects and administrative tasks.
• Maintain confidentiality of customer financial information and company records.
• Assist with the annual check-shredding process in accordance with company record-retention procedures.
• Provide additional support to the Accounting and Finance teams as needed.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in Accounts Receivable, accounting, billing, credit, or a related administrative role preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong communication and follow-through.
• Ability to handle confidential financial and customer information appropriately.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, preferred.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the Accounting team.
