Paraprofessional Educator/Special Education - Group 2 (3213) Wilson Middle School – Natick, Massachusetts Job Details Starting Date: Aug 24, 2026 Full‑time, 1.0 FTE (182 days) Salary and benefits per contract with the Education Association of Natick; benefits available. Job Description – Overview Support special education students through individualized instruction, behavior management, and daily living assistance. Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families to meet the academic and developmental goals of students ranging from preschool to 22 years old. Job Goal Provide effective and inclusive educational support that promotes student growth and success. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED. Professional Certification: Not required. Specialized Knowledge: Thorough understanding of and commitment to principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice as they relate to student, staff, and community engagement. Preferred Experience: Familiarity with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.) and PowerSchool; training available. Skills: Demonstrated aptitude for assigned work; bilingual skills, especially Spanish and Portuguese, highly desirable; passion for working with students, families, and colleagues; flexibility and collaboration; ability to multitask in a fast‑paced, supportive environment; strong organization and timely completion of assignments. Alternative degrees or experiences may be considered at the discretion of the Superintendent if they demonstrate a strong candidate. Tools and Equipment Used Phone, intercom, personal computer and required software applications, scanner, copy machine, calculator, camera, printers, fax machine. Essential Functions of the Job Work with students individually and in small groups. Assist teachers in special or general education settings, reinforcing lessons and implementing prescribed instruction. Respond to the special needs of individual students and accompany them for transitions, providing mobility assistance when appropriate. Administer or assist with administration of alternative testing, including classroom, district, and state assessments. Correct day‑to‑day student work without grading or reporting to parents. Carry out teacher‑planned learning exercises, including core curriculum instruction and support of related therapies (speech, language, occupational, physical, mobility). Perform classroom and other tasks assigned by the supervising teacher or principal. Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information. Participate in staff development programs and special needs teams as required. Establish effective working relationships with classroom teachers, specialists, and administration. Assist with consultation with special education staff and manage transfer, mobilization, or personal hygiene assistance for students as appropriate. Provide specialized instruction in a 1:1 or specialized program setting. Engage in district‑provided safety care training and implement safety plans (evacuation drills, behavior support plans). Collect and record accurate data on student academics, behaviors, or other goal areas. Collaborate with teachers and staff to maintain consistent behavior supports. Perform additional duties as assigned by principal, supervising teacher, or higher‑level staff. Work Environment and Physical Requirements Move throughout classroom, school grounds, office, or off‑site locations, including occasional quick movement across uneven surfaces. Remain in stationary positions for periods. Operate computers and other school/office equipment (iPad, copier, printer, assistive technology). Read and interpret materials from computer monitors or printed sources, with or without visual aids. Position oneself to access files and materials. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues in person, via video conference, phone, or writing. Observe details at close range. Ensure student safety in the school setting. Multitask to meet multiple demands. Assist students with life‑skills development such as eating, cleaning, and toileting. Lifting up to 25 lbs. Work in a moderate‑to‑loud noise environment.
