Job Summary The Academic Coach provides coaching to students identified as academically at risk. This position supports student persistence by helping students develop effective academic strategies, connecting them to campus resources, and monitoring their progress. The Academic Coach also champions a coordinated care approach by collaborating with campus partners to address barriers to student success. In addition, this role provides mentorship and guidance to academic coaches, tutors, and other student support staff.

Preferred Qualifications Experience working with students in teaching, advising, coaching, tutoring, or related support roles (secondary or post-secondary). Experience supporting students experiencing academic difficulty (secondary or post-secondary).

Other Information This is a part time, non-benefited position working up to 19 hours per week. This is a grant funded position and is contingent on continued availability of grant funds.

Job Summary The Academic Coach provides coaching to students identified as academically at risk. In addition, this role provides mentorship and guidance to academic coaches, tutors, and other student support staff.
Responsibilities Student Coaching and Intervention (70%)
- Provide individualized academic and success coaching to students identified as at risk due to academic performance or other barriers to persistence.
- Assist students in developing strategies for academic improvement, including study skills, time management, goal setting, and accountability.
- Conduct proactive outreach to students through meetings, calls, and electronic communication to encourage engagement and persistence.
- Help students identify barriers to academic success and connect them with appropriate campus resources and support services.
- Document coaching sessions, action plans, and student progress in appropriate student success systems.
- Facilitate workshops or small-group sessions on academic success strategies as needed.
- Monitor student academic progress using institutional data, early alert systems, and faculty referrals.
- Track student engagement, academic outcomes, and the effectiveness of interventions.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions, coaching plans, and follow-up activities.
- Identify trends related to student performance and persistence and share relevant insights with leadership.
- Collaborate with academic departments, faculty, advising staff, tutoring services, and other student support units to support student success.
- Participate in coordinated care discussions and case management meetings when appropriate.
- Communicate with campus partners to address barriers affecting student persistence.
- Contribute to campus initiatives focused on improving retention, persistence, and completion.
