Shipping and Receiving Specialist

Talascend is currently seeking a Shipping and Receiving Specialist for a contract opportunity with our client in Houston, Texas .


Overview


This role involves coordinating, shipping, and receiving domestic and international shipments, ensuring accurate documentation, timely processing, and effective communication across departments.


Responsibilities

• Responsible for the preparation and processing of all required documents and transactions necessary to ship and receive materials to and from domestic and international locations, including manifests, packing lists, letters of credit, declarations, import licenses, and certifications of origin on various systems.
• Coordinate shipments and/or deliveries with carriers and forwarding agents, distributing required documentation to all necessary recipients.
• Investigate issues related to shipments and receipts, resolving incoming material issues, and analyzing historic shipping and receiving transactions and documentation.
• Correspond with finance regarding credit hold customers following established procedures.
• Work closely with customer service and project managers to expedite items to meet customer delivery requirements.
• Adhere to returned goods procedures, communicating receipt and processing of materials upon approval.
• Generate and maintain various shipping and receiving reports as needed.
• Expedite and follow critical orders to ensure timely delivery.
• Maintain data and inventory integrity within the shipping department.
• Assist other office personnel as workload requires and substitute during absences.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• Shipping experience: 2 years (required)
• Excel experience: 2 years (required)
• Customer service experience: 2 years (required)
• Software knowledge: SAP experience
• Shipping international and domestic shipments experience
• Ability to analyze and review shipping/receiving documents
• Excellent attention to detail and documentation accuracy
• Good teamwork, flexibility, and initiative
• Strong time management skills
• Experience in warehouse shipping and receiving or logistics a plus
• Ability to work long hours and weekends as operational needs require
