Sanitation Coordinator

Tribute Baking Company is the strategic combination of four businesses with rich histories in the baking industry. The company, consisting of Always Bagels, Original Bagel, Dutch Maid, and Hometown Foods USA, is a market‑leading producer of authentic NewYork‑style kettle‑boiled, hearth‑baked bagels and high‑quality cake products sold through in‑store bakeries, club stores, foodservice, and convenience store channels. Responsibilities include cleaning equipment on weekends, performing sanitation cleaning within a food plant environment, cleaning office areas, and working a flexible schedule. Job Responsibilities Directly supervise the work of leaders and production associates, focusing on safety and accurate documentation of task completion. Ensure sanitation partners have all manual tools and equipment needed to perform sanitation tasks. Perform random verification activities for the completion of sanitation tasks, sometimes working in different shifts to maintain accountability. Carry out random verification of PPE usage among sanitation personnel. Continuously inform the sanitation supervisor of any problems or opportunities detected. Supervise sanitation inventories and personal protection safety weekly. Prepare and send weekly inventories. Train new health personnel on specific cleaning tasks, tool use, and proper chemical handling. Participate in cleaning tasks side by side with other sanitation employees. Strictly follow and support employee safety and food safety policies, good manufacturing practices, work instructions, and standard operating cleaning procedures. Lead efforts to improve, maintain, and validate safety, cleanliness, hygiene practices, and pest control procedures. Assist the sanitation supervisor in directing employees in accordance with plant regulations. Provide technical guidance to supervisors and employees on the proper use of protective clothing and accessories; correct problems immediately. Carry out routine plant tours, inspect equipment, and recommend cleaning, maintenance, or cost reduction needs and improvements. Anticipate sanitation needs based on production schedules and coordinate staff and task requirements with the sanitation team. Recommend adjustments to itineraries, procedures, and sanitary practices to the cleaning supervisor. File and review reports regarding inspections, sanitation violations, and corrective actions. Maintain and clean sanitation equipment. Help the plant prepare for important visits and inspections. Monitor pest control observations. Maintain product and process quality, legality, and safety; keep assigned area clean and report potential contamination or suspicious activity immediately. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or quality manager. During The Preoperative Inspection Shift Ensure materials and tools are available and operational before activities begin. Directly supervise the work of leaders and production associates, focusing on safety and accurate documentation of task completion. Ensure the production leader has all tools and hand equipment in good condition to complete sanitation tasks. Enforce standard sanitation procedures and inspect the areas. Coordinate all verification activities with the quality control technicians. Inform the sanitation supervisor and the sanitation supervisor in charge of progress in each department during the shift. Food Safety Responsibilities Support BRC by maintaining food safety and quality through completing job tasks and maintaining a sanitary work area following prescribed procedures. Report food safety problems to a supervisor or manager. Immediately report an injury or accident to the sanitation supervisor. Meet all company training requirements. Skills Requirements Well organized with good time management. Knowledge of HACCP is preferred but not mandatory. Knowledge of BRC standards is preferred but not mandatory. Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure and use common fractions and decimals. Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw conclusions; solve practical problems and deal with varying variables where standardization is limited; interpret written instructions, oral, diagrams, or itinerary papers. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Demonstrate strong communication, cooperation, and teamwork with production operators; treat the production team as customers. Promote the company's culture. Proficient in English; must understand, read, write, and speak English; Spanish preferable. Forklift operator. Diploma or equivalent high‑school and/or trade school education; a science baccalaureate preferable but not mandatory. One year of relevant experience in an automated food processing plant or bakery is preferred but not mandatory. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours) on a production floor. Frequent walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, and reaching. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lb regularly. Repetitive use of hands, wrists, and arms for handling product, packaging, and operating equipment. Work in an environment with loud machinery and fast‑moving conveyor belts. Exposure to varying temperatures, including cold storage below 40 °F and production areas above 90 °F. Ability to work in a fast‑paced setting with continuous movement. Adhere strictly to work and safety rules 100 % of the time.
