Shift Manager – Customer Operations The Shift Manager reports to the Automation General Manager and is part of the Customer Operations organization responsible for leading the day‑to‑day operations of Symbotic’s robotic material handling system. The organization drives operational excellence by engaging and partnering with our onsite customers to deliver best‑in‑class quality, safety and system performance. Responsibilities Ensure safety commitments in compliance with OSHA, Symbotic and customers’ processes and procedures are met daily. Manage a team of hourly and salaried employees to support the customers’ hours of operation. Execute standard operating procedures to drive performance enhancements, adjusting to changing business conditions as required. Ensure proper staffing of all functions for the established operating pattern, provide training and development, and set goals and objectives. Evaluate performance by preparing performance reviews. Coach the team to respond effectively to issues and problems in the system. Develop standards, processes, procedures and documentation for dealing with specific problems. Train and enhance team members’ performance. Regularly assess performance of team members. Train and motivate employees to exceed customer expectations. Communicate regularly with local customer management and Symbotic headquarters teams. Monitor system performance, report on trends of problems and present solutions. Monitor and provide defined KPI reporting based on contractual agreements. Conduct accident investigations per company guidelines and document findings. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Associate or bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or Industrial Automation or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience in management and operations manufacturing or related field. Strong knowledge of automation, warehousing and business processes. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate cross‑functional or cross‑facility groups. Regular interaction with executives and customers to influence and drive operational excellence. Ability to work independently of supervision following maintenance procedures and manuals. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Work Environment Steep stairs to climb into the structure; may be required to walk up and down stairs routinely. Work near railings that are high off the ground. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily temperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 32°F to 105°F. May be at a construction site with required PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection such as safety harness). Frequent ability to lift items up to 50 lbs and move items up to 80 lbs. Stand or walk for up to 10‑12 hours. Require frequent walking and reaching with hands and arms. Employee routinely required to work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. Capable of occasional or continuous activities such as standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, sitting, handling objects and repeating movements with both hands and feet. Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including lock out/tag out and fall protection safety protocols. Compensation and Benefits Base salary range: $71,000.00 – $97,900.00, which may vary based on experience. Compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), PTO and other benefits.
