Senior Inside Sales Manager

$150,000-$170,000 base + bonus | Onsite Akkar is supporting an established aerospace and defence technology manufacturer with the appointment of a Senior Inside Sales Manager to join its Southern California operation. This is a hands-on player-manager position for someone who enjoys leading a team while remaining personally involved in customers, commercial activity and revenue generation. You will manage a small customer-facing team while also carrying your own sales target and working closely with regional sales, engineering and operational teams. The business operates within highly engineered, mission-critical markets and is looking for someone who understands the demands of selling and supporting technical products within aerospace and defence. The role: Lead, coach and develop a team of 3-5 across inside sales and customer support activities Carry an individual sales target while driving the performance of the wider team Identify and pursue opportunities to grow existing accounts and develop new business Work closely with Regional Sales Managers and the wider commercial organisation Oversee customer enquiries, quoting, costing and sales support activity Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders Work cross-functionally with engineering, operations and other technical teams to support customer requirements Protect and grow the existing customer base while identifying additional revenue opportunities Establish and monitor KPIs, forecasts and commercial performance Remain personally involved in customer conversations, opportunities and commercial problem-solving Travel up to approximately 25% We are particularly interested in people who have previously led an inside sales function, although experience leading customer service or customer success teams within an engineering environment will also be considered. You should bring: Previous experience managing an inside sales, customer service or customer-facing commercial team A track record of remaining hands-on commercially while leading others Experience carrying and delivering against sales/revenue targets A background within aerospace, defence or a closely related engineering/manufacturing environment Experience selling or supporting complex technical or engineered products Strong understanding of quoting, costing, forecasting and commercial performance The ability to work effectively across sales, engineering, operations and customer support Experience using CRM/ERP systems and commercial data to manage performance Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing or a related discipline Experience within aerospace and defence electronics, components, systems or other highly engineered products would be particularly relevant.
